Tree Selection Considerations

There are a number of factors that should be considered when selecting a tree to plant on your property. You will want to make sure you select the correct tree species for the desired site or you will could have issues that may result in additional costs in the future. There are a number of things to consider such as - soil conditions, space and light constraints, amount of maintenance required for each particular species, local tree species specific pests, and objectives for the tree (e.g. wind break, shade, aesthetic purposes, etc.).
